Cancer Slayer (IT TAKES A TRIBE OF ELI WARRIORS)

Please Watch and share with the WORLD! CANCER SLAYER: It Takes a Tribe of Eli Warriors – YouTube

Meet Benny, son of Dan & Kelly Pin!

Benny is 4 1/2 years old and fighting a courageous battle against cancer. Benny’s sweet smile is pure motivation for us at the Eli Seth Matthews Leukemia Foundation where we strive to help find a cure for childhood Cancer.

At its unveiling, on a breezy November Saturday in Oxford, Pennsylvania, Benny was the first of many young fighters to sit in the driver’s seat of our custom 1951 Ford F-1, a life-sized Hot Wheels type pickup truck that we’ve named Cancer Slayer.

The embroidery work is by Howett’s Screen Printing & Embroidery.  Thank you Scott Gold.

Just for a moment Mom & Dad were not thinking about Cancer!  Just for a moment their baby was in a world free from his battle!  The smiles on their faces after their baby got out of #CancerSlayer 🐉 takes away a little bit of those days and nights of worry and made things feel more normal again.

The vision for the Cancer Slayer is credited to the foundation’s founder, Paul Matthews, whose son, Eli Seth Matthews, lost the battle with leukemia in 2011. As a means to raise awareness, the foundation has a Hot Wheels from Heaven program where labeled Hot Wheels toys are placed by volunteers all over the world for others to find, become aware of Eli’s story and the foundation’s mission.

Paul works tirelessly in Eli’s memory, determined to find a cure for childhood leukemia. We are exceptionally grateful to have such an amazingly talented and infinitely generous tribe of Eli warriors who have joined in the fight with their contributions to #CancerSlayer. As he says, “Thanks to them, this truck has a new life of helping the Eli Seth Matthews Leukemia Foundation raise not only awareness, but funds in this FIGHT Against Childhood Cancer in my HERO in life, my son, Eli’s memory.”

Please check above each photo and video made by the Commercial production company Toronto for the details provided by Paul.

Jerry Ray Schroder that one night you look at me and just walked by looking at #CancerSlayer but would not say anything when I asked what?  Finally all you said was RED (That Firewall needs to be RED)!!!  All I said was ABSOLUTELY?’, and WOW how it brings everything together!   And Mike Splash Burton of Color Splash Creations I just love ELI engraved into the scoop flaps and the hand pinstripes outlining ELI…   My friend Kevin Pennepacker of Vertical Fabrication llc the hood latch delete custom plate with the Eli Seth Matthews Leukemia Foundation, Inc. Childhood Cancer Awareness Ribbon engraved in it is absolutely incredible and phenomenal ❤️🖤

This Tunnel Ram and the 2” spacers where Powder Coated by the one and only Matt Makowski of Mako Metal!   Thank you my Brother for your help with this amazing build of #CancerSlayer 🐉

And how can you not love the engraving and hand pinstripes around Eli on the scoop flaps by Mike Splash Burton.

Also look at that scoop all airbrushed by Mike Splash Burton as well.  Take a look at the oil breather stitched airbrushed of Eli’s Stuffed Animal Puppy, the face of the Eli Seth Matthews Leukemia Foundation, Inc.  Hose install, and linkage fabricated by Kevin.  That linkage is not bought rather it’s another work of art by Kevin Pennepacker from Vertical Fabrication llc ❤️🖤

Where do I start l!   The centre console is a Harley Davidson fuel tank donated by Ken Gent.  I wanted this because Eli loved riding on my Harley with me.  Kevin Pennepacker from Vertical Fabrication llc banged out the dent, and cut in the cup holders.  Also made the awesome plates for the shifter.  Off to Mike Splash Burton for body work and an absolutely incredible and phenomenal paint job!!  You can also get more info here if you need other painting services.

Let’s talk interior.  What started as a pallet of Mahogany wood my mother Matthews Melody and I picked up from my friend Rodger Mort in Connecticut would become an amazing work of art.   Mark Coleman started cutting and designing the floor that you see here.   Dan Meixell from Repurposed Antiques then continued to work the floor and the rest of the wood interior!  I wanted to complete the beautiful interior in loving memory of Eli so Dan went to work creating another masterpiece.

Now look at the rest of the floor and floor mats all custom made by Chris Cocco of Cocco’s Custom Upholstery.  This guy is amazing he thinks before he acts listening to what the truck was saying, and when he trimmed in red under the wood at the doors, and kick plates it just grabs the details!   Also Michael Houser and I tried to put that piece of Mahogany wood with #CancerSlayer in it above that back window getting it under the rubber with no luck!   Chris said hand me that tool in my box top shelf and asked me to hold the one end and BAM in it went 😂

So in December 1970 the wooden box in one of these pictures had one round of HEAT in it.  A 94 lbs missile fired from a Sheridan tank.   So the NOS tank I received from Vince & Lisa Dunn became a replica of said missile that’s now Dragons Breath!  Would you look at the details that my brother Mike Splash Burton laid into this piece!!!!  This will Purge 15 feet of 🐉 Breath when Kevin Pennepacker from Vertical Fabrication llc get done with it.  Also we must put machine gun fire in that DRAGONS BREATH as well!!

Michael Houser thank you for donating this wooden box to the #CancerSlayer build by brother!!

Paul this is truly amazing. It is inspiring to others to never give up and fight for the cure. I pray I never have to go through this but if I do I would have this act of love to reflect on and keep fighting.

    1. Pat, Thank you for your kind heart felt words. I hope you and your entire family have a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.

Incredible read and what a tribute to your brave son! Thank you for doing what you’re doing to help raise awareness and fighting the good fight against the horrible monster we call cancer. The smile on Benny’s face shows it’s all worth it.

I have followed the bELIeve story since I first met Paul Matthews in 2009 and saw a bumper sticker on his car which said Eli’s Lemonade Stand, in which Paul and his family were raising money for childhood cancer and their son Eli. Sometimes, as someone who has the honor of working with Paul, I wonder if he ever sleeps. He is so good at his day job and so dedicated in the off hours to fighting childhood cancer. I’ve seen Paul over the years travel with families to St. Jude’s and Cincinnati. I’ve seen him march alongside families in our nations capital. Lead motorcycle rides and weep at the news another family is struggling. To see these photos and the final car pictures just confirm to me that Paul and his soldiers are not working alone. They have many angles leading them along, led by BRAVE ELI. May God continue to bless Paul and this great cause.

    1. Ray, I cannot thank you enough for your kind heartfelt words, and your friendship. All of the Eli Warriors will continue to grow, and we will raise awareness and funds till a CURE in found in my HERO in life my son Eli’s memory. I’ll never forget you getting that ticket last minute for me to get to St Jude to help Ethan and his family. Love to you my friend!!!
